Local Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 vehicles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they stated in a release.
Police say they were alerted late on Wednesday night, when a man noticed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored fluid.
The substance had been applied in the shape of a swastika, they reported.
Police then located multiple other smeared vehicles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Police state preliminary tests show the liquid was likely blood from a person.
"There is still no indication as to where it came from; officials are not yet cognizant of any harm in association with the incident," they added.
City officials announced they were working "to unravel the case" and have requested to the public for tips.
An important representative stated the vandalism made him without words and needed to be addressed quickly.
"This event affects the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the extremist attack five years ago," he stated on a platform, mentioning the murder of nine people by a assailant focusing on residents of foreign heritage in February 2020.
